Location : between Saint Florent ( east )
and Balagne ( west
)
On about 16000 hectares swept by the stifling of heat wind,
the Agriates Desert is an immense burnt to a cinder landscape.
The last « attic of Corsica » has really changed
: neither dwelling nor culture, just rocky ground as far
as the eye can see, in particular in its west part.
The only road ( D81 ) that crosses it offers a view on the
highest points of the desert ( less than 500m high ), but
too a series of runs that join, in north, the coastal of
Agriates.
The 1st, in west, permits to return to the « Anse of
Mafalco » after about 15 kilometers.
The 2nd, accessible from the hamlet of Casta gives an access
to the Saleccia beach after 12 kilometers.
