| The
Corsican Cape is the most contrasted region of the island
and deserves more than any other place the term of « mountain
in see ».
On 40km long and about 10-15 wide, that is only a sequence
of mountains recovered by maquis that fall in the see. Imagine
:
its highest top, the Mont Stello ( 1307m ) is only at 5km
( as the crow flies ) from the eastern coast.
Piece of evidence of boldness of the relief. That is there
that were built one third of the genovese
towers of the island,
supposed to be able to alert the population in the event
of attacks.

Littoral The
coastal shows this torment : the coast road, that permits
to go round the « finger » (D80-111km )
is among the most unevened of the island. And particulary
on the eastern coast, where there are very few accesses
to the see, and less real beaches.
Compensation : many interesting prospects on the meanders
of the coast, even sometimes in the same time on the
2 slopes of the island as to the genovese
tower from
Luri or to the panorama of « Serra Di Pigno » when
the clouds do not stay hidden…
