Location : about 5 km in the south
of Porto and 4 km in the north of Piana
Breathtaking. The « calanche » are indisputably
one the most wonderful sceneries of the island, sharing
first place with the Scnadola nature park. about 2 km between
Porto and Piana, Each bend of the road unveils fantastic
rock formations. The red granit has been sculpted in spectacular
shapes: Chimneys, peaks, men, animals,…. You only
have to let your imagination run free.
To make the most of its charms, choose the sunset, that
send the place glowing. Do not hesitate to go for a walk
in the Calanche, or further, thanks to numerous foot paths
branching off from the road. Finally, avoid high season
( july-august….). The Calanche are o, all coaches
routes and as the road is narrow ans car parking areas
very sparse, driving around may be a problem.
