| Location
: about 130 km south of Ajaccio et 170 km from Bastia
Lacated at the south extremity of the island, Bonifacio
is, very logically, the most southern town of France. Its
situation is exceptional : a tiny peninsula ( 200m wide
) separated from the mainland by a fjord and an excellent
mooring place, in paticular for the pleasure boats…
Not to be missed :the narrow alleys of the fortified
town, the cliffs made of chalk more than 60m high,
but too the
deserted wind-swept by the winds that overlooks on all
the surroundings. An easy walk starting just out of the
town ( Araguina camp site )allows, to reach by foot the
Calanche of Bonifacio ( notably Fazio and Paraguano )
and its dream like beaches.
From the harbour, we can also take a boat for Sardinia,
that is only situated about 10 km away, for the Lavezzi
islands, nature reserve looking like the Seychelles
or only for a visit of the caves in the cliffs. So
many
assets are not without any backlash : in summer, Bonifacio
looks
like Saint-Tropez…
